The disciples who walked with Jesus often jockeyed for position. They wondered where they would be in Jesus’ kingdom. But Jesus came to serve, not to be served. He wasn’t about positional authority. Jesus turns our world upside down. When we serve others, we experience his joy. The Greek words translated servant are often translated minister too. When we serve others for Jesus’ sake, he becomes visible.

Your light is God’s light shining uniquely in and through you. Jesus says it’s your light, your good works, and your Father in Heaven. He is telling us that our relationship with Him is special, it is unique. He is calling us to do these good works and show “our” light to others.
